Travels, Wedding & Life

When initially telling Bryan about my new blogging endeavor, one of his suggestions was to include our trips on here somewhere. It sounded like a good idea to me! This page is intended to show a little bit more about who we are and what we do. Below are a few vacation photos, a little about our wedding, and a few pics from my work travels. You can also check out this awesome video that Bryan made me for my birthday!

Vacation Photos

Here are a few photos from each of our bigger trips, with links to full albums if you're interested in looking at more.

Iceland, England & Scotland (2013)
In May 2013, we went to the UK to visit some friends. We started with a layover day trip in Iceland, then took a roadtrip around England and Scotland. You can view my posts on Iceland, England Pt. 1, Scotland, and England Pt. 2.

Australia (2011)
We went to Australia in Nov-Dec 2011. We started by exploring Sydney, then went to the outback for some hiking around Uluru, and ended with a trip to Cairns and scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef.

New Zealand (2011)
We went to New Zealand from Australia. We started in the North Island with tubing through the Waitomo glow worm caves, then going Zorbing and seeing the geothermal activity in Rotorua. Then we went to Queenstown for skydiving, bungy jumping, and hiking, and ended the trip with a night back up in Auckland.
Colombia (2011)
This was a completely random, spur of the moment trip - I said, "Hey, let's go to Colombia for Memorial weekend." Bryan said, "Uhh...sure!" We went to Cartagena and explored the lovely colonial city, went to an island beach, soaked in the mud volcano, and did a lot of relaxing at the Sofitel Santa Clara.

French Alps (2011)
Bryan's company has some pretty awesome perks, including an all expenses paid vacation every four years. For his four-year reward trip, we flew to Geneva then went to Chamonix-Mont Blanc for a week in Feb 2011. Bryan went skiing, I went snowboarding, and we both ate a whole lot of cheese!

Costa Rica (2010)
For our first anniversary in August 2010, we went to Costa Rica for a few days and stayed in the Manuel Antonio area. We did a little hiking, went ziplining in the rainforest, and did a whole lot of lounging at the beach and pool.

Honeymoon in Kenya & Tanzania (2009)
For our honeymoon in August 2009, we went on a 10-day safari in Kenya where we saw the Big Five and witnessed the Great Migration. After the safari, we had a relaxing week-long stay at the beach in tropical Zanzibar. I took about a bazillion photos, but this link is just to a very short album.

Brazil (2008)
We went to Brazil for New Year's 2008. We spent most of the time in Rio where we went hang gliding and to the best NYE party ever, and we also took an excursion to the beach town of Buzios.

Peru (2008)
From Brazil, we went to Peru. We went to Cuzco, and hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu - which is where Bryan proposed!!

Hawaii (2008)
In 2008, Bryan decided he wanted to run his first marathon, and he missed the registration for the (local) Marine Corps Marathon. He decided to run the Honolulu Marathon instead! After the marathon, we got massages, went cage diving with sharks, went scuba diving, tried surfing, explored the island, and of course, did a lot of relaxing too.

Our Wedding!

We got married on 8.8.09 (which also happens to be the street address of our new house!). Our ceremony & reception were both at Oxon Hill Manor.

Wedding Photos (2009)
Our (amazing!) photographer who took all of these photos was Theresa Choi Photography. Here's Theresa's blog post about our wedding.

Work Travel

I'm a consultant and a lot of our work is for the military, which has given me the opportunity to take some pretty cool trips. I always try to squeeze in some time for sightseeing!

Also, how cool is that your anniversary is your new address!?

    1. Thanks, Amy! It's hard to pick a favorite! The Kenyan safari was really amazing but then again a lot of the other trips were too! And yeah I love that the address number worked out that way - makes it easy to remember - and will make it hard for my husband to forget our anniversary, haha.
